Description
Ants are small insects that can be major pests inside and outside the family home. Colonies usually contain an egg laying queen and workers that tend to the larvae and eggs. The workers carry out different tasks in order to look after the colony including foraging, nest construction and looking after the queen and defending the nest. The colonies can form nests and may take residence in bricks, house foundations and cavities, under paving and in crevices. Even in a garden and lawn situation, they may form mounds that can cause damage and may be unsightly. Ants are attracted to food scraps and sugary substances, so it is essential to limit food particles and juice/soft drink spills as much as possible to limit ants from swarming around these food sources.
