Description
Cabbage white butterfly is a very serious pest of cruciferous plants, some including cabbages, broccoli, cauliflower, kale and wallflowers. The larvae can be described as being green with a yellow line along the top of the body, which grow up to 30 mm. Feeding tends to occur more at night, with larvae in the younger stages mainly feeding on the underside of the leaf. As they become larger the can be found feeding on both upper and lower surfaces. The butterfly fore-wings span from 40-50 mm, with a creamy white and black marks at the tips. The hind wings has a spot located on the front edge. Females can be identified from males by having two black spots on the fore-wings, whereas males have one spot.
