Scientific name: Phytophthora spp.
Description
Phytophthora Root Rot starts by an infection in the root hairs causing the fine feeder roots to die, this then spreads through the fibrous root and into the vascular system causing the plant to wilt. The wilting symptoms are seen as the leaves yellow and die, and branches die back from the tips. It is possible for the fungus to cause partial damage to the root system, and therefore you would observe single to several branches affected with the rest of the plant unaffected.
