Botanical name: Eleusine indica

Description

Crowsfoot grass is a tough, dark green summer annual grass weed with flattened stems and shiny strap-like leaves. Leaf blades are smooth with folded venation and white sheaths leading to a short membranous ligule which is uniquely divided at the centre. A difficult to control weed that tolerates low mowing heights and thrives in low nutrient and compacted soil conditions. The seed head appears from late spring or early summer and is two to ten spikelets on long stem.
