Description
There are many different fungi that cause the symptoms of what we call rust. It usually appears as small yellow patches or spots on the upper surface of the leaf. On the underside of the leaf it appears as powdery pustules. Rusts are usually difficult to control because of the sheer number of spores they produce that can start new infections. There are no general weather conditions that are favorable for rust fungi spores to germinate. However, it is necessary for moisture to be present for spores to germinate.
